THE FUTURE OF ENVIRONMENTAL PEACEBUILDING

In 2022, a collection of international organisations working on environmental peacebuilding came together to launch the website Ecosystem for Peace. It is a wonderful resource featuring a collection of projects and publications on issues around environment, climate, conflict and peace. The collective involves more than 500 individuals from around the world. As part of the launch, we published its flagship project, an illustrated White Paper on the Future of Environmental Peacebuilding. I art directed the illustrations and design, bringing together nine artists and illustrators from around the world, whose work accompanied the themes of the White Paper, helping bring to life the opportunities, challenges, pain and beauty of environmental peacebuilding. The artists come from Afghanistan, the USA, Rwanda | Uganda, the UK, Japan, Hawai’i, Morocco and Ireland.

The White Paper is a policy document with a call to action. Its goal is to stimulate thinking, policy, and funding for innovative programs and solutions around environmental peacebuilding. It comes with a Compendium of 50 chapters that explore case studies from around the world, written by more than 150 authors. You can download the White Paper here, or explore the website and compendium at www.ecosystemforpeace.org
